Already Have an Internship for the Summer?  Looking for Funding?

The GIP allows for students without summer plans to apply for internship and research placements around the world.  However, you may already have secured a placement for next summer, and that's great!  You can still apply for funding only through Penn Abroad.

Eligibility

Who: Funding only is available to degree-seeking students at the University of Pennsylvania. Current Penn freshmen, sophomores, juniors and graduate students NOT graduating in May or August of summer 2018 are eligible to apply.

Note: If you are an exchange student, a senior or graduate student graduating in May,  or a non degree-seeking student, you are not eligible for funding.

Duration: Internships must last between 8 and 12 weeks over the summer, typically in May through mid-August.

Placement: Students must show proof of acceptance/enrollment into an internship or research experience for the summer of 2018 in order to apply.  All placements must be outside of the United States.

Application Process

There are two rounds during which students may apply for funding.

Round #1 Opens: End of October

Round #1 Closes:Wednesday, January 10, 2018

Round #2 Opens: Thursday, January 11, 2018

Round #2 Closes: Friday, March 16, 2018

Completed applications will be reviewed at the same time (when the application closes).  Scholarship notifications will go out twice - once in March for Round #1 and once in April for Round #2.
