Already Have an Internship for the Summer?  Looking for Funding?

The GIP allows for students without summer plans to apply for internship and research placements around the world.  However, you may already have secured a placement for next summer, and that's great!  You can still apply for funding only through Penn Abroad.

Eligibility

Who: Funding-Only is available to full-time, degree-seeking students at the University of Pennsylvania. Current Penn freshmen, sophomores, juniors and graduate students NOT graduating in May or August of summer 2018 are eligible to apply.  Students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing.

Note: If you are an exchange student, a senior or graduate student graduating in May or August, or a non degree-seeking student, you are not eligible for funding.

Duration: Internships must last between 8 and 12 weeks over the summer.

Placement: Students must show proof of acceptance/enrollment into an internship or research experience for the summer of 2018 in order to apply.  All placements must be outside of the United States.

Application Process

There are two rounds during which students may apply for funding.

Round #1 Opens: Friday, October 27, 2018

Round #1 Closes:Wednesday, January 10, 2018

Round #2 Opens: Thursday, January 11, 2018

Round #2 Closes: Sunday, April 1, 2018

Round #1 applications will be reviewed together, and decisions will be released on March 1, 2018.  Round #2 applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis after March 1, 2018.

Students who apply in Round #1 or early in Round #2 have the best chances of receiving funding.
