The Psychological and Cognitive Lives of the Poor in India
10:30 AM EDT / 8:00 PM IST
Virtual Event

Join the University of Pennsylvania Institute for the Advanced Study of India (UPIASI), Penn Global, and Penn Alumni for a conversation with Professor Heather Schofield, Assistant Professor of the Perelman School of Medicine and The Wharton School. Professor Schofield also co-founded a lab in Chennai where she studies questions at the intersection of development, behavioral economics, and health.

  • During this one-hour virtual talk, Professor Schofield will highlight the diverse range of queries she has explored, including:

  • How much do low-income urban workers sleep and how does this impact their livelihoods and well-being?

  • Do garment factories face high turnover because their workers -- primarily migrants -- are lonely? Can we help workers adjust to this new environment and thrive?

The dialogue and subsequent Q&A will be moderated by Professor Harsha Thirumurthy, Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the Perelman School of Medicine. This event is the second of the new Penn in India: Faculty Speaker Series.
