Ryan Villanueva is the Assistant Director for Integration and Community Engagement. Ryan manages the development of programs for international student integration at Penn in partnership with faculty, staff, and students. He designs and facilitates initiatives that address the unique needs of international students and works together with campus partners to make Penn a more inclusive and welcoming environment. Ryan plays a central role in initiatives like Forerunner, Intercultural Leadership Program, orientation activities, Penn World Scholars, and iCommunicate. He also oversees the International Student Advisory Board and the Building International Student Integration Group. Ryan is co-facilitator for Penn's Pan-Asian American Faculty Staff Association and co-facilitator of Family Center's Check-In for Asian and Asian American Parents.
Ryan has enjoyed many experiences abroad from China to Chile and loves learning from other cultures. After spending time in the music industry in Nashville, Tennessee, Ryan taught English in Chile and was also a Spanish interpreter and translator in the US. Ryan has a BBA in Marketing from James Madison University, BA in Spanish from Virginia Commonwealth University, M.S.Ed. in Intercultural Communication from Penn’s Graduate School of Education and a Certificate of Nonprofit Administration from Fels Institute of Government at Penn.
