Ryan Villanueva is the Assistant Director for Integration and Community Engagement. Ryan manages the overall agenda for successful international student integration at Penn in partnership with faculty, staff, and students. He designs and facilitates activities, workshops and initiatives that address the unique needs and challenges of international students. Ryan plays a central role in initiatives like Forerunner, Intercultural Leadership Program, orientation activities, Penn World Scholars, and the Penngagement International Experience (PIE) Series. He also oversees the International Student Advisory Board and the Building International Student Integration Group.
Ryan has enjoyed many experiences abroad from China to Chile and loves learning from other cultures. Ryan taught English through the Ministry of Education in Chile and has also been a Spanish interpreter and translator in the US. Ryan has a BA in Spanish from Virginia Commonwealth University, a BBA in Marketing from James Madison University. He is currently completing a master’s in Intercultural Communication at Penn’s Graduate School of Education and a Certificate of Nonprofit Administration from the Fels Institute of Government.
