Sending out the Global Internship Program Summer 2018

By Penn Abroad

At the close of the semester, students participating in the Global Internship Program (GIP) have already started to make their way abroad and begin their summer internships.  The 165 Penn students participating in the program will complete internships and conduct research for a period of eight to twelve weeks across more than 45 different career fields in 33 countries. GIP participants have the opportunity to gain career-enhancing experience and global exposure that is essential in a global workforce.

Each student that participates in the program receives a funding award to help offset their internship-related expenses, including any visa expenses, flights, housing, or meals. For the first time this year, a number of additional funding awards were slated for students of diverse backgrounds and perspectives including students with diverse identities, first-generation students, international students, first-year students, and scholars that demonstrate a commitment to community service. These funding awards were developed as part of Penn Abroad’s continued commitment to increasing access to global opportunities.
