International Relations major, Angela Yang '21, has been awarded a David L. Boren Scholarship to support her upcoming semester abroad in Thailand. Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad. This year, 851 undergraduate students applied for the Boren Scholarship and 244 were granted awards.

Angela will be studying abroad at the CIEE Khon Kaen: Development and Globalization program. This program uses international and national human rights frameworks to understand grassroots and social justice issues. During the semester, Angela is most looking forward to learning from local leaders and activists during week-long community stays and getting to explore Thai culture.
