PGS: Paris under the German Occupation and Its Places in [Non-] Memory
Lumi Christensen is a junior from Oak Ridge, TN studying Mathematics with a minor in French and Francophone Studies. This semester, they’ll be traveling to Paris through the Penn Global Seminar “Paris under the German Occupation and Its Places in [Non-] Memory” over spring break with Professor Mélanie Péron. Lumi is a QuestBridge Scholar, and is also the Vice President of Penn’s chapter of QuestBridge Scholars. They also serve as a peer mentor for the Penn Emerging Scholars Program, delivering lectures to first-year undergraduates in math and logic, and an Advising Fellow for Matriculate, providing free advising on college admissions to high-achieving, low-income students across the nation, and a Writing Fellow at the Marks Family Writing Center. Their biggest commitment is certainly the Penn Glee Club, the University’s oldest performing arts group, where Lumi serves as Vice President, Student Director, and Music Director of the SSAA subgroup Penn Sirens. Outside of these organizations, Lumi likes arranging music for their own enjoyment, exploring different restaurants and cafes through Philadelphia, and going to history and anthropology museums.
During their upcoming trip, they are looking forward to…

● Visiting the Memorial de La Shoah in Paris
● Being in a Francophone country for the first time
