My Experience Abroad
As an Architecture student, seeing the United States for the first time was a mind bending experience. I explored more than 10 cities and 7 states in both east and west coasts during my year seeing marvels of American history and engineering, a very inspiring experience. On campus I engaged in every activity that caught my eye. From Penn Dining’s culinary sessions to Harnwell’s house events and more while balancing Architecture school and many great experiences around Philly, notably crossing the Franklin bridge to New Jersey on foot.
Penn’s design school is completely different from back home (Egypt). I found myself learning in new ways and facing new challenges, America builds differently and they made me understand more about Architecture in theory and practice. I go back to my home school with a broader look on the industry and experiences I could never have dreamed of experiencing when it comes to design and life as a whole.
Other Highlights
- San Francisco design class trip where we explored the city and worked on renovating a building.
- Quaker Kitchen weekly cooking lessons and the great friends I made.
- Playing sports (PennPark/Pottruck) on campus in my free time with friends.
- College house events with my floor and RA to Six Flags, Halloween nights and more!
