My Experience Abroad:

I chose to go to Australia, and the University of New South Wales specifically, to learn more about Indigenous peoples and their history. As a Political Science major with an individualized concentration in Intersectionality Studies, my analysis focuses on how those with multi-layered identities experience different social, political, and economic systems differently. My Indigenous Political Activism course and my "Gendered Identities in Indigenous Australia" course allowed me to see how race, class, sexuality, and other identities have impacted one's experience in Australia.

Other Highlights:

  • Riding a quad bike through Sand Dunes

  • Traveling to Melbourne with 3 amazing friends (that I had just met!)

  • Going to a concert by myself and having the performer come to me in the crowd

  • Taking a picture with a koala

  • Swimming in the Infinity Pools at the Royal National Park in Sydney
