Ask me about...

  • Tips on getting immersed in the culture

  • Getting out of one's comfort zone

  • Meeting new friends

  • Going to cultural events in the area

My Experience Abroad:

As a French minor, studying abroad in France made the coursework at Penn "come alive to me". For example, before going abroad at Penn I had taken a French Literature class and read a book called "Chanson de Roland". During my time abroad I visited a castle that was very essential in France's politics during the time that book was written (14th century). It was interesting to see artifacts essential in the story first hand and how people during that time lived.

Other Highlights:

  • Visited different tourist attractions within Paris (the city I was housed) every other day.

  • Visited different parts of France and got to see cultural differences within the country.

  • My language skills improved a TON!

  • Relearned issues often talked about in the US to take into account the international perspective.
