Melissa serves as an advisor for students seeking Semester Abroad (SA) opportunities and supports students going abroad through the Penn Global Seminars (PGS) program. Melissa works closely with faculty to develop new Penn Global Seminars and plan the short-term travel component for selected seminars. Previous to Penn Abroad, Melissa worked at the James Joo-Jin Kim Program in Korean Studies and the Center for East Asian Studies, developing academic programs aimed at promoting the study of Korea and East Asia at the University of Pennsylvania. Melissa holds a BA in International Relations and Chinese from the University of Southern California and received her MS in International Affairs from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She previously studied and worked abroad in Taiwan and China.
