Virtual Internships Abroad

Virtual Internships Abroad offers you professional work experience with global employers in a highly flexible and customizable format.

The Virtual Internships Abroad (VIA) program provides self-directed and motivated Penn undergraduate students the opportunity to gain professional work experience over the summer at a global company, with the added convenience of working remotely. Students can choose the length of their internship and the number of hours they wish to work per week, all while gaining important skills through cross-cultural training and language learning.

Program Features and Facts:

  • Match with a remote internship in a wide variety of industries and with an employer based in countries across Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Australia

  • Customize your own internship dates (4-10 weeks) and work schedule (10-40 hours per week) to fit your goals, availability, and other summer commitments

  • Take advantage of cultural immersion opportunities such as language learning, cross-cultural networking events, and virtual local city tours

  • Receive full funding to cover 100% of the virtual internship program fee, which includes the internship placement, professional workshops, cultural programming, and ongoing internship support

Applications for the VIA program will be open on March 1, 2021. You are invited to join our mailing list to receive updates about VIA, other Penn Abroad programs, events, and application deadlines.

“I could not experience Argentina in-person, but by pursuing my internship with an open mind, I was still able to improve my professional skills, learn about a new culture, and meet a network of awesome individuals.”
