Benjamin Katzeff Silberstein is a doctoral candidate in the Department of History at Penn, where he focuses on the evolution of surveillance and political control in North Korea. He is also an associate scholar with the Foreign Policy Research Institute, and co-editor of North Korean Economy Watch (www.nkeconwatch.com) and a contributor to IHS Jane's Intelligence Review. Benjamin has previously worked as a journalist and as a special advisor to the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation (2012-2013). Prior to coming to Penn, he received an M.A. in International Relations and International Economics from Johns Hopkins SAIS."
