Biography
Ellen is currently a sophomore at Penn, studying Biochemistry and Medical Sociology. Moving to the US from Iloilo City, Philippines, she began navigating the crests and troughs of international student life. Her Penn journey commenced with ISSS’s Penn Global Mosaic, a pre-orientation program where she built strong intercultural friendships, developed leadership, and got a helpful early look at campus life. Now, through her involvement with ISAB, she is eager to extend that embrace of warmth and welcome, ensuring every international Quaker finds their own “home away from home.”
Having been raised in a humble family of teachers, Ellen envisions a life of purpose, advocating for inclusive education and equitable access to healthcare. She is currently involved with various clubs and organizations at Penn, including the Penn Philippine Association, UnEarthed Penn, and the Assembly of International Students, among others. She is also involved with translational and genomics medicine research at CHOP.
During her leisure time, she loves cafe and museum hopping, as well as eyeing cool thrift store finds!
