Madison Mikhail is an International Student and Scholar Advisor for International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS). Prior to joining ISSS, Madison was the Visa Coordinator for Penn’s Department of Chemistry for over six years. As Visa Coordinator, she served as the department liaison between Chemistry and ISSS to obtain the necessary immigration documentation for Chemistry’s international research scholar population. Originally from Canada, Madison moved to the U.S. when she was a child. During her time living in the U.S., her own visa statuses have included being a TD dependent, F-1 international student, and now currently a U.S. Permanent Resident.
Madison’s professional experience in international higher education began while earning her B.A. at the University of South Carolina (UofSC) as a F-1 international student. She was hired by UofSC’s Office of International Student Services (ISS) as a student worker during her junior year. This gave her the unique opportunity as a F-1 student to see international education and immigration through a different lens and understand the hard work that goes into supporting and growing an international student and scholar population, as well as the positive impact that internationalization has on a university system. After graduation, Madison transitioned to being full-time staff as the Administrative Assistant for UofSC ISS. She then joined Penn in 2016. Madison is excited to be able to bring both her personal and professional experience to ISSS to continue serving and supporting Penn’s ever-growing international community as an International Student and Scholar Advisor.
