Welcoming Our Fall 2018 Exchange Students

Exchange Students at Citizens Bank Park

We kicked off Fall 2018 by welcoming 130 exchange students from nearly 60 exchange partners during our two-day orientation at the end of August in College Hall. Though our largest number of students come from Australia and Spain, students hailing from Macau, Latvia, and the Czech Republic have joined us for the semester. The students took part in New Student Orientation activities, have moved into on-campus housing, and are attending classes with their newfound friends and colleagues from the US and around the world. Our exchange students have also been actively participating in Penn events, including those held during Penn Global Week.

Penn Abroad has hosted a trip to Ocean City, New Jersey, to show the exchange students what “down the shore” is all about, held a mixer that connected returned and prospective outbound study abroad students with peers from partner institutions, visited the Liberty Observation Deck in Center City Philadelphia, and cheered on the Philadelphia Phillies on a beautiful day. Soon, exchange students will have the chance to experience parts of American culture with a visit to Amish Country and the opportunity to carve pumpkins.
