Announcing Penn Abroad Summer Term

November 4, 2024
By Penn Abroad

Penn Abroad is excited to announce a new initiative in 2025: the introduction of a summer term abroad for academic credit. In this program, students will participate with a small cohort of other Penn students, enrolling in pre-existing summer programs at partner universities and taking classes alongside local and international students.

In Summer 2025, Penn Abroad’s summer term will offer undergraduate students in the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences and the Wharton School the opportunity to immerse themselves in a new global community at either the Chinese University of Hong Kong or Copenhagen Business School. As part of this programmatic expansion, Semester Abroad will now be called Study Abroad to reflect both semester and summer opportunities available for academic credit via our office.

Key Features

  • Earn Penn Credit at Partner Institutions: Experience a new academic environment abroad, while earning 2 CUs of Penn credit applicable toward your degree requirements.

  • Financial Aid: Aid-eligible students will receive financial support to help offset the costs of course enrollment and program participation in this summer program.

  • Eligible Class Years: Eligibility includes rising second-year students, in addition to rising juniors and seniors.

  • Summer Flexibility: Maintain your fall or spring term responsibilities on Penn’s campus (academic, extracurricular, personal), while still experiencing a term abroad during your time at Penn.

The creation of a summer term for study abroad reflects Penn Abroad’s ongoing mission to provide a meaningful global experience for all Penn students.
