PGS: Health and the Healthcare System in Chile
Anya is a junior from Boston, MA studying Bioengineering and Robotics. This winter, she’ll travel to Santiago, Chile with her Penn Global Seminar to learn about the Chilean healthcare system. On campus, Anya is on the board for the Society of Women Engineers and is working on building a surgical robot at the GRASP Lab. She’s passionate about making medical technology more accessible and affordable globally, and is excited to dive deep into the state of Chile’s healthcare accessibility. Outside the classroom, you’ll find her exploring the outdoors, learning how to figure skate, and building sets for Bloomers Comedy shows!
During her upcoming trip, she is particularly looking forward to…
- Visiting various hospitals and primary care centers and exploring how Chile’s healthcare system runs differently than America’s
- Speaking Spanish with native speakers 24/7!!
- Strolling through the vibrant streets of Barrio Bellavista and trying freshly made humitas
- Spending time in Plaza de Armas, the cultural heart of the city
