Ask Me About…

  • Playing sports while abroad (tennis, pádel, and volleyball)
  • Exploring the art history scene and finding underground galleries and exhibitions
  • Working abroad in an environment where only Spanish is spoken
  • Living with a host family
  • Learning how to meet and get close to locals

My Experience Abroad

An experience that I imagined would only further my professional attention towards a career in international diplomacy, my time in Argentina completely shook my perspective on work, life, and diversion, forcing me to embrace the unknown. Not only did I have an internship that complemented much of my international relations coursework, but I also improved my Spanish and developed a profound interest in art history and creative writing through museums, interactions with locals, and special experiences abroad. Now, I am no longer fearful of living abroad for work and I feel equipped to do so.

Other Highlights

  • The home stay component, where I eat meals and shared experiences with new people, who eventually became a second family to me who I still keep in contact with.
  • Attending academic conferences with my coworkers and meeting important Argentine political figures, where I had the opportunity to ask them questions about their political stances.
  • Attending a Boca game with a coworker and getting to see the cultural importance of soccer in Buenos Aires.
  • Visiting museums with my host family, getting to read the objective version of history, compounded by their subjective experience.
  • Playing in a competitive volleyball league.
