PGS: Exploring Traditional Chinese Medicine

Kimi Li is a senior majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Healthcare Management and Chemistry on the pre-dental track. This semester, she will be traveling to Shanghai, China, with her Penn Global Seminar to delve into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as a form of alternative medicine. On campus, Kimi is actively involved in health disparities research, serves as the President of the First-Generation Limited-Income Dean's Advisory Board, Women's Club Lacrosse, and the Community Sites Director of Service Link, a student volunteer organization. Outside of class, she enjoys painting for her small business, ranking new restaurants on Beli, and spending time with friends. She is passionate about bridging Western and Eastern medical practices in order to deliver the best care as a future health professional. 

During her upcoming semester, she is particularly looking forward to... 

  • Engaging in hands-on workshops like acupuncture, acupressure, and Tui Na (deep tissue massage) at the Longhua Hospital 

  • Finding the perfect spots for morning Tai Chi at the park 

  • Visiting the night market and sampling traditional street food 

  • Have meaningful conversations with TCM practitioners  

  • Exploring historic landmarks like the Jade Buddha Temple and Shanghai Tower  

  • Taking strolls through the Tianzifang to find the best cafe
