Veronica Baladi is a first-year college student double majoring in Economics and Health & Societies with a minor in Urban Education. Following the spring semester, she will travel to Athens, Greece with the SNF Paideia Program Penn Global Seminar ‘American Race: A Philadelphia Story’ for ten days. Hailing just twenty minutes outside of New York City in New Jersey, she is excited to explore the roots of democratic participation in an equally historic metropolis. Currently, she works as a local food educator with the Netter Center, project chair of Penn Student Government’s Student Committee on Undergraduate Education, lead singer/guitarist for Bloomers band, and assistant music director of Keynotes A Capella. In her free time, she enjoys reading existential literature and doing the StairMaster. She hopes to glean an international perspective on human rights in Greece.
During her upcoming travels, she looks forward to…
- Visiting the U.S. Embassy & Consulate
- Presenting original policy proposals to researchers
- Hiking through ancient ruins
- Discovering Greece’s universal healthcare system
- Kebab, and mediterranean food that reminds her of home
