GRIP: Business in Sydney
Program
Global Research & Internship Program (GRIP)

Program:

  • GRIP: Business in Sydney

Ask me about...

  • Learning how to cook new foods and regional specialties while abroad despite never considering myself a skilled chef.

  • Exploring your host country while traveling to different financial districts to capitalize on the unique markets in your host country.

My Experience Abroad:

The Business in Sydney program paired me with the University of Sydney Business School’s Business Insights Program (SBI). As opposed to the prototypical format of research programs, SBI produces managerial findings in the format of podcasts, infographics, academic modules, and papers. This gave me the opportunity to develop standard research skills such as learning how to conduct a systematic review while also seeing its tangible application to practitioners. Seeing the impact of my research on unlearning management trickle down from theory to adopted practice, I got a full glimpse of the management field. By the end of the program, I felt like I got to imagine myself in various positions across the field and have redirected my professional ambitions as a result. That being said, I decided that People Analytics is not the field for me. Nonetheless, my commitment to Economics and Cognitive Science have remained unchanged, but I have also put additional effort into finding an industry as I dive deeper into developing my management skills.

Other Highlights:

  • Meeting locals at a Monaco GP viewing party (the race was delayed an hour by rain but made for a great bonding experience).

  • Learning about selvedge denim and American reproduction garments at BlueWorks.

  • Playing in a pool tournament.
