GRIP: The Tata Group

During the course of my internship with the Tata Group in Mumbai, I had the opportunity to
participate in a 3-day immersive trip along with 14 other interns. And it was nothing short of
extraordinary.

Day One: A Glimpse into the Heart of Tata at Bombay House

Our journey began at the iconic Bombay House, Tata’s headquarters. We had the honor of engaging with esteemed Tata leaders. Their insights into the Group’s diverse and impactful endeavors, ranging from sustainability all the way to hosting the Indian Premier League, were truly eye-opening. We also had a fascinating tour of the Tata Experience Centre, showcasing
the legacy of excellence and innovation that defines the Tata brand.

Day Two: Unveiling Cutting-edge Research and Empowering Women at Tata Facilities

The second day took us to Pune (a city near Mumbai), where we delved into the world of TataChemicals’ state-of-the-art R&D facility. Witnessing their dedication to cutting-edge research and sustainable practices was inspiring. We also had the privilege of visiting the Tata Motors Plant, where we were captivated by the Omega Factory, the World’s First all-women car assembly line. The passion and determination of these skilled women were truly empowering and showcased Tata’s commitment to diversity and gender equality.

Day Three: A Heartwarming Visit to Anjuman Islam School

As much as the Tata Group is renowned for its business prowess, the trip was not limited to corporate endeavors. On day three, we visited the Anjuman Islam School, supported by the Tata Management Training Centre. The warm welcome we received from the students and staff was heartening. Interacting with the girls at the school was the highlight of the trip, as we witnessed the transformative power of education. This experience left an everlasting impression on our collective sense of purpose and the importance of giving back to society.

Throughout the three days, the 15 of us fostered a vibrant exchange of ideas and experiences. The diverse backgrounds and perspectives of the group allowed for some of the most interesting conversations I’ve ever had. The Tata Global Internships Program provided me with an unparalleled opportunity to witness firsthand the legacy of excellence and compassion that defines the Tata Group. I’m eager to carry this wealth of knowledge and experiences with me to Penn in pursuit of genuine and meaningful contribution to society.
