Biography

Dr. Yuhong He serves as the Director of Integration, Community Engagement and Marketing at International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) at the University of Pennsylvania. In this role, she leads the Integration team in advancing ISSS’s mission by developing strategic initiatives, overseeing program delivery, guiding marketing and communications, fostering campus and external partnerships, and supporting student leadership and advocacy. Her leadership style is collaborative, strategic, and student-centered, grounded in partnership, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Dr. He brings a strong foundation in mental health to her work in international education. She has extensive experience in university counseling centers, where she supported the well-being of undergraduate and graduate students and led prevention and community-based mental health initiatives. She also designs and delivers training in intercultural communication and global leadership development for students and staff, and provides supervision and mentorship to mental health practitioners in their development as clinical supervisors. She continues to practice as a clinical psychologist alongside her full-time role.

Currently pursuing a Master in Law degree at Penn Carey Law, Dr. He is deepening her engagement with the legal and policy dimensions that shape the international student experience. She intentionally integrates perspectives from psychology, law, and international education to inform her work, with the goal of advancing policies and institutional practices that better support international students and scholars.

With over twenty years of professional experience, Dr. He has dedicated her career to understanding and supporting international students’ adjustment, integration, and well-being. Her research and publications have explored topics such as coping and collectivism, job-search stress, career decision-making, and cross-cultural adjustment, and she has presented her work at national and international conferences.

Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Hakka, Dr. He brings deep linguistic and cultural expertise to her work, enhancing her ability to support students, engage meaningfully with the broader campus community, and contribute to a more welcoming and globally connected institutional environment.
