Adjust to Penn Today: Workshops for New International Students

(Please note that the Adjust to Penn Today workshops are not mandatory)

Living in a new country and in a different culture than your own can be difficult. Join ISSS and partnering offices from across campus for interactive and informative sessions on how to adjust to your new home at Penn and Philadelphia. Check out the schedule below and sign up today!

Welcome Reception for New International Undergraduate Students and Families

ISSS, Penn Global and Penn Parents welcome new international undergraduate students and their families to Penn. Meet other new Penn families from across the globe and enjoy globally-inspired refreshments! (By invitation only, pre-registration required).

Flying Solo? If you're attending the Welcome Reception without your family, there will be a designated Meet Up spot where you can meet your classmates! Just look for the Meet Up sign.

Welcome Session for New International Undergraduate Students

Mandatory: Yes

Time: 10:30am – 12:00pm
Location: Meyerson Hall, Bottom Floor

Dr. Rudie Altamirano, Director of ISSS, provides a welcome and presentation on the life of an international student in the U.S. Afterwards, the Assembly of International Students and iPHINS give an interactive introduction to life at Penn and Philly; basic necessities such as phones, banking, shopping, and entertainment will be covered. Mandatory - no registration required.

Center City Philadelphia & One Liberty Observation Deck

Time: 4:30pm – 7:00pm
Location: Meet at 3440 Market Street at 4:30pm; We will travel by SEPTA subway
Cost: $10 (may purchase up to 2 tickets)
Who: Open to all new undergraduate and graduate international students

Get a bird’s-eye-view from the top of one of Philadelphia tallest buildings! You’ll see as far as the eye can see of the “City of Brotherly Love”, which is a UNESCO World Heritage City. Before getting your view of the city, we’ll visit the famous Reading Terminal Market that sells traditional American treats and foods and stop by City Hall, which is the biggest municipal building in the U.S.!

Phillies Baseball Game

Time: 12:30pm - 4:30pm
Location: Meet at 3440 Market Street
Who: Open to all new international undergraduate and graduate students.

Cost: $20 (may purchase up to 2 tickets)

It’s a homerun!!! ISSS and Penn Abroad welcomes you on a trip to Citizens Bank Park in South Philly to witness the Philadelphia Phillies vs. the Miami Marlins in the traditional US sport – baseball! Enjoy the game while grabbing some food and drink at the numerous locations inside the stadium!
