Study Abroad Correspondents

Share your academic, cultural, and social experiences while studying abroad for an academic year, semester, or summer.

The Study Abroad Global Correspondents are semester abroad students dedicated to sharing their experience with the Penn community. By sharing their writing, photographs, and videos, they highlight the student experience abroad and how Penn students engage with the world during their time in an immersive, academic setting.

Program Requirements

Study Abroad Global Correspondents are required to:

1.

Attend a pre-departure meeting with fellow Study Abroad Correspondents 

2.

Write a reflective blog post(s), to be published on the Penn Abroad Blog

3.

Engage with Penn Abroad on social media and do an Instagram Takeover 

4.

Become a Penn Abroad Ambassador upon your return

Eligibility

  • Going abroad on a Penn-approved fall, spring, summer, or academic year long study abroad program 
  • Interest in writing, photography, videography, and/or social media. 
  • Accountability to meet all program requirements.

Application

Applications for each term will open on a rolling basis within your Study Abroad program application in PASSPORT.

Application decisions will be made in the semester before you travel as students are admitted and confirmed to their program. 

Award Distribution

$200

Award (subject to tax withholdings) will be disbursed upon completion of the program requirements and return from a fall or spring semester abroad.

Correspondents who study abroad in the spring semester can expect payment in July after their program completion. Correspondents who study abroad in the fall semester can expect payment in January after their program completion.

$150

Award (subject to tax withholdings) will be disbursed upon completion of the program requirements and return from a summer semester abroad.

Correspondents who study abroad over the summer term can expect payment in September after their program completion.
