Assistant Professor of Pathobiology

Daniel Beiting, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Pathobiology in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Penn where he is the Technical Director of the Center for Host-Microbial Interactions (CHMI).  He leads a project that integrates data mining and visualization tools to explore tens of thousands of publicly available microbial datasets from enteric diseases, available at [microbiomeDB.org]microbiomeDB.org.  He also works together with colleagues at Penn and in Bahia, Salvador, Brazil to use genomic approaches to identify the molecular pathways driving cutaneous leishmaniasis, a parasitic disease caused by the protozoan parasite Leishmania braziliensis
