Welcome to Penn’s Global Internship Program
Penn’s Global Internship Program (GIP) provides opportunities for outstanding undergraduate and graduate students to intern or conduct research abroad for eight to twelve weeks over the summer.
Looking for a unique summer experience outside of Philadelphia? Want to gain global exposure and an understanding of different cultures? Hoping to stand out when applying for jobs after graduation? Then the Global Internship Program (GIP) is for you!
The GIP provides Penn students with opportunities to spend their summer abroad in two different ways.
- Interning or Conducting Research Abroad - spend your summer abroad by interning or donig research at one of our pre-approved placements. Internships can be found in every continent (except Antarctica) and in every career industry!
- Applying for Funding - already have an internship or research opportunity lined up for the summer? Apply for funding through our office!
All students in the GIP must spend 8-12 weeks of their summer abroad in their placement.
Every student that is placed in one of our pre-approved internship or research placements will receive a scholarship to help offset their internship-related expenses. These scholarships are funded by the University of Pennsylvania and can be used to offset your flight, visa expenses, housing, food, and more. We have nearly 200 scholarships to help make the GIP possible for stduents!
These global opportunities allow students to apply the academic knowledge they have obtained, while enriching their overall Penn experience with diverse cultural and international exposure and valuable work experience.
