PGS: Mongolian Civilization: Nomads and Sedentaries in Mongolia

Program:

  • PGS: Mongolian Civilization: Nomads and Sedentaries in Mongolia

Ask me about...

  • Staying on the outskirts of Kharkorin in Ghirs is an experience I will never forget

  • Falling in love with the environment of the place you travel to

My Experience Abroad:

Within International Relations, Mongolia plays a crucial role in acting as a power broker between Russia and China. Further, the Soviet Union left a lasting mark on Mongolian society through script which I was able to witness walking through the city square and reading the signs in Cyrillic. However, this intertwined history goes back to the myths which formed this region; Alexander Nevsky is known for his relationship with the 'Golden Horde' of the Mongol Empire. Needless to say, learning about past Mongolian civilizations and current Mongolian society allowed me to apply the studies from my coursework to real life.

Other Highlights:

  • Enjoying the outdoor concert performed by UKA near Sukhbaatar Square

  • Staying in Ghirs on the outskirts of Kharkorin

  • Going to the boarding school near Kharkorin

  • Attending historical and cultural museums
