Ask me about...

  • Being pre-med and studying abroad fall semester of senior year

  • Being in Europe for the first time in my life

  • Traveling in Europe during the semester (11 countries in 3 months!)

  • Studying abroad without any friends going into it

My Experience:

During my PGS class, I was able to take a class (music) that I enjoyed but was not related to my major. It satisfied College requirements for me which was very convenient. More importantly, it introduced me to an entirely new culture and people. Learning how to talk to people of vastly different backgrounds is a skill that I will definitely use in the future.

During my semester abroad, I participated in the Health & Society program at KCL, a program geared towards pre-health students. As a tentative pre-med, this program solidified my interest in becoming a doctor because I got to shadow doctors in the UK and learn about the UK healthcare system firsthand (and compare it to the US one) alongside other students who also wanted to go into healthcare.

Other Highlights:

  • I had never camped before, so camping in the Outback was an incredible first introduction – my classmates and I had built strong connections within the classroom and then getting to have this new experience with them allowed us to bond so much more.

  • Getting to travel all around Europe was such a highlight. Traveling with new friends is a risky decision with high reward, and I definitely repeat the benefits of it. Exploring gorgeous countries, such as Scotland, Italy, and Iceland with new friends was absolutely unforgettable.

  • Making friends from all over the world! I now have a long list of countries where I know I would have a friend there if I visited in the future. It has definitely inspired future travel and it was really cool to interact with so many different people.
