Call for Applications: Penn Global - Perry World House Policy Fellows Program
for Penn Graduate Students Interested in
Policy Careers, Climate, and International Security
Interested in a policy-facing career with a focus on climate or international security issues?
Penn Global and Perry World House invite applications from Penn graduate students currently enrolled in research-oriented degree programs (especially but not solely PhD programs) to apply for the inaugural cohort of the Policy Fellows Program. The purpose of this new program, supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, is to equip current graduate students with the skills needed to qualify and be successful for careers in policymaking at the international and global levels, especially within the U.S. government, multilateral institutions, and international and global civil society. This year’s program will include a topical focus on climate change and its implications for international security.
Applicants will be drawn from diverse disciplines and academic backgrounds and will work on projects that allow them to translate their work in ways that enhance their competitiveness (e.g., writing policy briefs, starting podcasts, developing multimedia outputs, or producing other non-academic work).
Program participants will benefit from a structured series of interactions with policymakers, which will include workshops on the Penn campus in Philadelphia in addition to trips to Washington, D.C. and New York. Applicants must commit to taking part in all program activities, which consist of 4 day-long workshops held over the course of the 2024-2025 academic year, beginning with a kick-off event in late summer/early fall 2024. Total time commitment is envisioned to be approximately 50 hours spread over the course of a year. The program is designed to be fully compatible with other concurrent responsibilities, including coursework, summer internships, teaching, and doctoral fieldwork.
Please note that this program is separate from the Perry World House Graduate Associates Program, but current or former Graduate Associates are welcome to apply. Applicants to this program who are not also Graduate Associates are likewise encouraged to consider applying.
To apply, please fill out this web form by Tuesday, April 30 for full consideration.
