Daniel Beiting, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Pathobiology in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Penn where he is the Technical Director of the Center for Host-Microbial Interactions (CHMI). He leads a project that integrates data mining and visualization tools to explore tens of thousands of publicly available microbial datasets from enteric diseases, available at [microbiomeDB.org]microbiomeDB.org. He also works together with colleagues at Penn and in Bahia, Salvador, Brazil to use genomic approaches to identify the molecular pathways driving cutaneous leishmaniasis, a parasitic disease caused by the protozoan parasite Leishmania braziliensis.
