PGS: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics

Ani Petrosyan is a sophomore at Penn Engineering, majoring in Computer Science. As the semester draws to a close in mid-May, Ani is about to go on an exciting journey to Beijing, China, as part of the PGS "AI and Robotics" program. Being an international student from Armenia, she looks forward to this unique opportunity to meet and collaborate with high school students from China, with whom she has been teaching classes and recitations, and to bring their joint project to fruition. Outside the classroom, Ani is an active member of the Women in Computer Science and the Society of Women Engineers, reflecting her commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity in the tech field. Ani's hobbies include playing chess, snowboarding, and kart racing. Yet, her anticipation for the semester extends beyond academics and hobbies. She is eager for a period of personal growth, cultural exploration, and deepening her understanding of AI and robotics in a global context.

During her upcoming trip, Ani is especially excited about:

  • Experiencing Self-Driving Cars: Ani is excited to explore self-driving technology in China, building on her research in Computer Vision.
  • Meeting All Students: Ani looks forward to meeting all 43 high school students from China they've collaborated with throughout the semester.
  • Presenting the Final Project: She looks forward to presenting a collaborative project with a fellow Penn student and seven Chinese high school mentees, showcasing their semester-long effort.
  • Exploring Chinese Culture: Ani can’t wait to immerse herself in Chinese culture, from experiencing the rich flavors of its cuisine to admiring the distinctive Chinese architecture.
