My Experience Abroad:
During my time abroad, I had the opportunity to interact with Sub-Saharan African refugees who were experiencing Morocco as either a short-term living option or as a place of residence until further notice. In this way, it was the real-world application of the migration patterns that I've been learning and following during my time at Penn.
Other Highlights:
-
Spending a weekend with Tamazight (Berber) people in Zaouiat Ahansal, a town in the Moroccan Middle Atlas mountains
-
Living with a generous, hilarious, hospitable, understanding, selfless, helpful host family
-
Having a Moroccan "language partner" who attended the Faculté des Sciences de Rabat, a university of mostly Moroccans, with whom I was able to spend time and from whom I learned a lot
