The hybrid structure of the program
My Experience Abroad:
I am majoring in International Relations, and my study abroad term offered a type of opportunity that I had not been previously successful in finding as an international student. I attended the Parliamentary Programme at the University of Edinburgh. It was a hybrid program that incorporated classes and an internship component. During the first half of the semester, we finished our classes, and for the second half, each of us got to intern under a Member of the Scottish Parliament. It was great to finally get the chance to intern in the public sector and in a field that frequently discusses topics relevant to my major such as Brexit, UK general election, political structures, and campaigning.
Other Highlights:
-
Participating in a traditional Ceilidh, a casual party of Scottish country dancing
-
Seeing Rome in less than 20 hours
-
Going to Oktoberfest with my Penn friends
-
Sightseeing on foot all the way from the West of Prague to the East (35,000+ steps!)
-
Having dessert for breakfast in Paris.
