Evelyn Huang is a junior concentrating in finance at Penn. This semester, she will be studying abroad at Singapore Management University. A native Texan and naturalized Pennsylvanian, she is excited to once again immerse herself in a new environment and bring readers of this blog along with her on her journey! At Penn, she is involved in WITG and a Girls Who Invest campus ambassador. In her free time, you can find her hiking, writing poetry, enjoying a concert, or exploring local eats with friends. She is excited to spend her semester abroad learning about business practices, historical implications, and cultural traditions in Southeast Asia, particularly through Singapore’s unparalleled ethnic and national diversity.
This spring semester, Evelyn looks forward to:
-
Gaining a better understanding of how business is conducted differently in Southeast Asia than in the US
-
Taking Asia-centric business and history classes to get exposure to non-Eurocentric perspectives
-
Food crawling through Singapore’s vibrant hawker centers
-
Visiting as many surrounding countries as possible with new friends made at SMU
