Program:
-
SA: CASA Barcelona: Spanish Universities Program, Spain
Ask me about...
-
Taking classes in a language that you are not a native speaker of.
-
The experience of being a person of color (Asian American) living in Europe.
My Experience Abroad:
In addition to my communication major, I am also pursuing minors in consumer psychology and Hispanic studies at Penn. As someone who has been interested in Spanish language and culture for years, I knew that I wanted to experience living abroad in a Spanish-speaking country. Being a part of the CASA: Barcelona program allowed me to devote an entire semester to immersing myself completely in this field of study—an experience that I found particularly meaningful considering that my Hispanic Study coursework is often overshadowed by coursework that is required for my major and other minor when I'm on campus.
Other Highlights:
-
Meeting other Penn students that I had never crossed paths with.
-
Having the opportunity to travel both within Spain and around Europe.
-
Getting to try lots of new Spanish food!
