Food! Any time I would travel to a new city, the first thing I would look into were the best spots that locals said had the best food that was unique to that city/country/region. I also think I have researched just about any kind of cuisine you could possibly be looking for within Madrid (and have great recs!). I think that food was one of the best ways to learn about different cultures and meet locals in any city.
My Experience Abroad:
In my Business Ethics and CSR class abroad, as well as my Integrated Marketing Communications class, we discussed GDPR extensively. This was especially interesting because while it affects businesses in the US and I have discussed GDPR in LGST and OIDD classes before, I was able to gain a unique perspective on the law and its implications from professors who work at companies based in the EU and are affected by the changes it has created on a daily basis.
Other Highlights:

Reconnecting with old friends who are from Madrid

Living a daily lifestyle (greetings, meals, customs, etc.) that was vastly different from my daily routine in the US

Watching El Clásico in the Bernabéu

Eating at the oldest restaurant in the world (in Madrid)
