My Experience Abroad:
At the University of Cambridge, Pembroke College I studied research methods and cognitive neuroscience. As a future physician and a Neuroscience major, this academic inquiry was profoundly fulfilling. It helped me learn a lot about research science and statistics while also deepening my knowledge of the cognitive basis of behavior. In addition to academic goals, I grew on a personal level as someone who was exposed to new environments and challenges of adjusting, especially in my senior year when most people are so used to Penn.
Other Highlights:
-
I really enjoyed the ability to be completely engrossed in Cambridge society. I joined clubs, sports, etc and it was warm and welcoming.
-
I was at a time of political change and historical events throughout the UK (two prime ministers, the queen's funeral, etc) and it was an exciting place to be during such a cultural shift.
-
I enjoyed creating lifelong connections with professors abroad. They really matched the work I wanted to do in the future and helped tailor my skills for the career I am working on.
-
The ability to be in a new place as welcoming as Cambridge and also be able to go to London and explore.
