My Experience Abroad:
As a Systems Engineering major at Penn, I got to take very hands-on coursework in C++, optimization algorithms, and biologically-inspired computing methods. Those courses introduced me to a new way of learning engineering principles in a classroom environment, where I got to focus more heavily on independent studying and longer-term projects. I also got to apply those courses and my Engineering Entrepreneurship minor by joining Google Campus London, which is Google's startup hub in the UK! Aside from my engineering studies, I'm a huge art history fan, so exploring London's free museums and exhibits exposed me to many of the works of art I learned about in my art history courses.
Other Highlights:
-
Learning computer programming in C++ from English professors.
-
Exploring pop-up shops in London, such as a cafe in a Gothic church.
-
Climbing Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, Scotland.
-
Picnics in London's Hyde Park and Regent's Park.
-
Traveling to Berlin, Germany with 6 new friends from King's College and UCL.
