Ask Me About...

  • Performing my spoken poetry for the first time in front of an audience at the monthly open mic speakeasy nights in Kelly Writers House
  • Undertaking research at Penn
  • Being an EAP Correspondent: keeping the exchange community in the loop with all the cool excursions Penn Abroad had to offer.
  • Going to all the Authors@Wharton events (I saw my favourite actor ever- Rainn Wilson talk about his new book Soul Boom!!)
  • All the lifelong friendships I made

My Experience at Penn:

Penn taught me the value of building a good relationship with your professors. I took advantage of the ‘Mentor Meal’ program to have lunch with my professors, we discussed everything from class material to their work and research and personal life. Knowing more about their journey, and them knowing about me helped me engage with coursework deeply.

Other Highlights:

If you’re living on campus like most exchange students, I suggest becoming involved with your college house community. I lived in Stouffer Mayer which in my opinion is hugely underrated because for some reason everyone wants to live in the high rises. For one, the rooms in Mayer are massive. Secondly, since there are only seven floors, you get to know people much more intimately. The RA’s are very friendly and have several events running throughout the semester, most of which include free food! Stouffer is one of the only houses with a student government, and I was elected Vice President, which entailed going to biweekly meetings, managing the $10,000 budget, and engaging with the student community to put the budget to good use by implementing events and amenities.
