Aaleyah Jackson is a sophomore in the College of Arts & Sciences dual majoring in Political Science and Africana Studies with a potential minor in East Asian Languages & Civilizations. This upcoming May, she will be traveling to Beijing, China, and visiting Universities such as Peking University and Qufu Normal University. Being from Bentonville, Arkansas, she is excited to observe the differing busy, fast-paced lifestyle in Beijing, China. She is especially excited to have the opportunity to practice her Mandarin and communicate with the locals. Currently, she serves as a Residential Advisor for Fisher Hassenfeld College House and the Marketing & Recruitment Chair for MathMates, a student-led organization inspired to give back to the West Philadelphia community. In her free time, she enjoys digital media design, baking, working out, and spending her money on Lego sets. She is incredibly excited for a week of personal growth, exploring Beijing and Qufu, and enhancing her language fluency and cultural knowledge.

During her upcoming week abroad, she is particularly looking forward to…

  • Strolling through Beijing street markets
  • Talking and connecting with the locals
  • Speaking with and presenting to students at Peking University and Qufu Normal University
  • Visiting famous landmarks such as the Confucius Temple, Olympic Park, and Forbidden City
  • And, of course, eating delicious traditional Chinese dishes
