PGS: Case Studies in Environmental Sustainability

Molly Sparkman is a sophomore Environmental Studies student with a minor in Consumer Psychology. At the end of the upcoming spring semester, she will be traveling to Iceland with the Penn Global Seminar: Case Studies in Environmental Sustainability. Being from Boise, Idaho, she is extremely excited to take in the unique environmental landscape of Iceland. Currently, she is an active member of Penn Ski Team and on the Earth and Environmental Studies Undergraduate Advisory Board. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, hammocking, and hanging with her two golden retrievers (Kona and Rosie). She is looking forward to a semester of analyzing a specific case study, and then seeing the application of her knowledge in the trip to Iceland.

During her upcoming trip, she is particularly looking forward to…

  • Walking on Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe
  • Attempting to learn some Icelandic (gangi þér vel)
  • Admiring the gorgeous landscape
  • Visiting breathtaking waterfalls
  • Braving the seas on a ferry to visit the Westman Islands
  • Spotting some puffins
