My Experience Abroad:
It was my first time visiting South Asia and I learned so much about Indian culture and people. As an International Relations major looking to work in Asian diplomacy, I found it extremely useful to visit the places I hope to work with. Studying the municipal intricacies of Delhi, and then going to observe them allowed me to understand the city in a way that I couldn't have just in a classroom. As a result of the Penn Global Seminar, I feel more equipped to succeed in navigating a place I am unfamiliar with.
Other Highlights:
-
Visiting the Taj Mahal at sunrise. The haze of sunrise elevated the majesty of the Taj.
-
Interacting with locals.
-
Growing close to the other students on the trip. My trip to India was the component of a semester-long course, so by the end of the trip we felt like family.
