Programs
Global Research & Internship Program (GRIP) Penn Global Seminars (PGS)

Program:

  • GRIP: Law & International Affairs in Beijing (Remote)

  • PGS: Can China Stop Climate Change?

Ask me about...

  • Interning in a virtual environment

  • Taking a risk and diving into an unfamiliar topic

  • Understanding different cultures (China and the UAE are much different than the US/European countries)

My Experience Abroad:

As a pre-law student, it was really informative to work as a legal intern for an AI start-up based out of Beijing, especially considering how important the topic is today. It was virtual since it was still during the peak of COVID, but my mentor - and also the founder of the company - had daily check-ins with me and made sure that I had work that interested me!

The PGS based on climate change in China was also a unique way for me to keep working towards my PSCI major and also learn about a topical issue that related to part of my culture. Dr. Moore is incredibly knowledgeable on the topic and encourages his students to develop an interest in any field within climate change, which was so uplifting and encouraging as someone who didn't know much about climate change at the beginning.

Other Highlights:

  • Professor to mentor relationships

  • Learning about Chinese culture and exploring new ideas

  • Being able to gain both academic and professional experience in my area of study
