Ecuador's Vice President Otto Sonnenholzner will address the challenges of biodiversity protection in Latin America, like balancing development and economic growth with sustainability and environmental protections.

He will also discuss Ecuador's relationship with neighboring countries, including Venezuela, the issue of migration, as well as the local and global concerns around preservation and managing eco-tourism in the Galápagos Islands.

Lunch will be available from 11:45am.

Otto Sonnenholzner speaking at an eventOtto Ramón Sonnenholzner Sper is the 50th Vice President of Ecuador and Perry World House's Distinguished Global Leader-in-Residence this year. He is an economist, businessman, and broadcaster, and was elected Vice-President by the National Assembly in 2018. As Vice President, he coordinates the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in order to align the international agenda with the Ecuadorian National Development Plan. He also works to pursue the National Strategic Investment Plan and its strategies at the international level, including promotion, attraction, and maintenance of investments.
