Fearless at the Forefront: Philadelphia’s Local Response to Shifting Immigration Policy
An Intimate Conversation with Mayor Jim Kenney
In conversation with Sozi Tulante, PWH Visiting Fellow and former Philadelphia City Solicitor
Today more than ever, cities are at the forefront of change. Local leaders and policymakers play a critical role in the settlement and integration of immigrants and refugees in our communities and cities. While immigration policies are often determined at the national level, it is cities that absorb the impact of these shifting policies. As a result, cities around the country have learned to navigate and develop their own solutions to ever-changing immigration policies. Philadelphia is no exception.
From the beginning, Philadelphia has worked to be a friendly and welcoming place for immigrants, refugees, and people of all backgrounds. Now, more than ever, Philadelphia has emerged as a fearless leader in local responses to shifting immigration policy. To learn more about this work, please join Mayor Kenney, the City of Philadelphia, and Perry World House for a discussion about our city’s local response. A reception will follow the discussion.
