Visiting Fellow Fatima Denton

Fatima Denton is the director of the Institute for Natural Resources in Africa at the United Nations University. Previously, she director of the largest substantive section – the Special Initiatives Division – and coordinator of the African Climate Policy Centre at the Economic Commission for Africa. Denton is known within the research and implementation divisions of the United Nations and beyond for her broad understanding of natural resource management and policy formulation and support to various countries in the African region. She works at the confluence of research and policy, designing a number of research programs to satisfy Africa’s climate policy needs and possibilities for a green transition. Denton holds a PhD in political science from the University of Birmingham.
