Fatima Denton is the director of the Institute for Natural Resources in Africa at the United Nations University. She is the former director of the UN Economic Commission for Africa’s Special Initiatives Division and coordinator of its African Climate Policy Centre. With extensive experience in research and policy development, Denton specializes in climate change adaptation and resilience in Africa. As a coordinating lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, she has contributed to multiple reports and currently leads the Sixth Assessment Report, Working Group III. Denton holds a PhD in political science from the University of Birmingham, and is recognized for her expertise in climate change and land, renewable energy, and natural resource management.
