Faculty Fellow Jere R. Behrman

Jere R. Behrman is Kenan Professor of Economics and Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. His research is in empirical microeconomics, economic development, early childhood development, labor economics, and human resources – including considerable work on nutrition, economic demography, household behaviors, life-cycle and intergenerational relations, and policy evaluation, all primarily in international contexts. He has over 500 publications, worked with numerous international organizations and governments, been involved in professional research/lecturing in over 40 countries, and been principal investigator or investigator on over 160 research projects and received various honors, including Econometric Society Fellow, 40th Anniversary Fulbright Fellow, 2008 biennial Carlos Diaz-Alejandro Prize for outstanding research contributions to Latin America, 2017 Population Association of America Irene B. Taeuber Award, and is one of 37 living economists included in “Highly Cited Researchers (h>100) according to their Google Scholar Citations public profiles.” He received his PhD in economics from MIT in 1966.
