Postdoctoral Fellow Rebecca Friedman Lissner

Before joining Perry World House, Rebecca Friedman Lissner was the Stanton Nuclear Security Postdoctoral Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, the Brady-Johnson Predoctoral Fellow at Yale University's International Security Studies, and a Smith Richardson Foundation World Politics and Statecraft Fellow. Lissner has also worked as a special advisor to the deputy secretary at the US Department of Energy and a research associate at the Council on Foreign Relations.

Lissner's research interests focus on international security and American foreign policy, and she is working on a book (based on her dissertation) that examines how military interventions shape great powers' grand strategies. Rebecca’s scholarship has been published in Presidential Studies Quarterly, International Peacekeeping, and Survival. Her policy writing has appeared in Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, the Atlantic, and War on the Rocks, among other publications. Lissner received an AB in social studies from Harvard University and a MA and PhD in government from Georgetown University.
